About the Role


As a Mechanical Engineering Tradesperson at Cann Group's state-of-the-art Mildura Facility, you will be responsible for operating mechanical equipment and controls to maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment used in the manufacturing and packaging of pharmaceutical products. This is a Permanent Full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled and dedicated professional to join the Facilities Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills in mechanical engineering trades along with a proactive approach towards maintenance tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative in developing and managing the responsibilities of the role.
  • Build and assemble mechanical systems according to engineering plans and specifications.
  • Configure, adjust, and safely operate and maintain machinery and equipment, including workshop tools, for optimal performance.
  • Strictly follow health and safety policies and procedures, including the use of proper protective clothing and equipment.
  • Utilise advanced problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical system issues.
  • Understand and work with a range of mechanical devices, components, and tools.
  • Accurately interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, and schematics to execute tasks effectively.
  • Diagnose and address issues with production equipment, including robotics, to maintain continuous and efficient operations.
  • Analyse and resolve equipment problems to achieve optimal efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform maintenance, testing, preventative maintenance, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Skillfully work with and maintain complex mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct maintenance and modifications on mechanical production equipment to enhance performance.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting, repairs, and fine-tuning of equipment and devices to improve accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the engineering department, external contractors, equipment manufacturers, and vendors to support project goals.

 

Key Responsibilities


Qualifications/Licenses 

  • Pre-employment Security and Health Screening.
  • Driver's License.

Australian Recognised Trade qualification preferred, such as:

  • Certificate III in Plumbing Mechanical Services or;
  • Certificate IV in Engineering: Mechanical Engineering Technician.

Candidates with the Following qualification will also be considered: 

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) i.e. Boilermaker/Welder/Fabricator.
  • Certificate III in Airconditioning and Refrigeration.
  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter, Fitter/Welder).

Experience

  • Extensive exposure to wide range of mechanical systems.  
  • Experience working different types of mechanical systems.
  • Ammonia chiller plant.
  • Gas fired hot water units.
  • AHUs and controlled environments.

Skills / Competencies

  • Have a deep understanding of different types of mechanical systems and how to troubleshoot them effectively, utilising knowledge of design and function.
  • Well-developed communication and organisation skills to work with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and in a team and communicate with production staff to assist troubleshooting.
  • Tig/Welding abilities.
  • Critical thinking and sense of urgency skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to perform manual labour tasks associated with cultivation events and general warehouse operations.
  • Ability to complete goals within allotted timeframes and deliver high-quality results.
